Gaming Futures

Nice article from Gaming Futures Meastro Brian Baglow.  Oh and apparently, I'm an evil genius.

"A week ago, the second Turing Festival took place in Edinburgh.  The inaugural event in 2011 was astonishingly good.  Diverse, eclectic and expert, it pulled in speakers and participants from a huge range of disciplines and, almost uniquely, seemed to focus on a speaker’s ability and knowledge, rather than job title or employer."

Turing Centenary in Edinburgh

What an incredible few weeks it has been.  In all the craziness of bringing together the Turing Festival, it is only now that tickets are selling that I can take a proper look at the whole thing.  The programme is bigger and better than I could ever have thought possible and there are so many people who have come together to make this a reality.  It was always my hope that Turing could develop in an open way, a little bit like the Edinburgh Fringe, with all manner of folks coming to Edinburgh to put on events.  This has come true in an incredible way from Music Hack Scotland with SMIA to Interactive Scotland, National Geographic and more.  I hope that I will have more time to write here now that the organisation phase is over.  In the meantime, check out some of the events.

Tickets Launched

The main tickets have now been launched.  Other events will come on stream over the coming days but the bulk are all here.  We are doing a wide variety of individually ticketed event as a real festival rather than a conference.  There are usually 3 and sometimes 5 simultaneous events so plenty to get your teeth into.  With the opportunity of free accommodation via Turing Town, I really hope to attract even more worldwide developers, startups and weirdos.

Major CERN event at Turing 2012

I'm incredibly happy that the good folks at CERN have joined with us again for the Turing Centenary for a much larger event.  last year, Professor David Britton gave an incredible talk showing the GridPP in action.  2012 is a critical year in the hunt for the Higgs Boson and with Professor Higgs based in Edinburgh, the link to the Turing Centenary is wonderful.  The full lineup will me made soon.
